Helping Our Unhoused Neighbors Move Toward Self-Sufficiency and Greater Independence.

Let's Address Homelessness Together

We rely on community volunteers to hold weekly outreach activities to our unhoused neighbors. At HART, we believe that compassion leads to progress. We invite you to join us as we support a vulnerable population in Fair Oaks and Orangevale and address one of our community's biggest challenges.

HART Outreach Activities

Youth Outreach

OVFO HART partners with About Kids and SJUSD's McKinney- Vento program to provide resources and school supplies to school age children in Orangevale and Fair Oaks . Each year we hold a backpack drive to gather supplies for our students who are living in some type of housing transition.

We have also started a new partnership with the YMCA called Y.A.S. which stands for Young and Safe.  YMCA provides a safe space for High School students from Casa Roble and Bella Vista who are unhoused to relax, work out, learn to swim, do their homework or even play some pickleball.

HART is also providing much needed transportation support for these students in the form of bicycles with helmets, locks & reflectors and rideshare rides to use when the Sacramento Regional Transit Smart Ryde service is not available. Testimonials are coming soon!

Please stay tuned.

Mid-Week Meals

Midweek Meal is located in the back of the Fair Oaks Library parking lot, at the permanent park picnic tables

on top of the hill.

We come together once a week to serve our unhoused and at risk neighbors on Wednesday from 12-1 pm.

HART's Midweek Meal Outreach volunteers serve neighbors a nutritious warm entree, a veggie, bread, fruit or sweets,

and water or a variety of beverages.

Food is provided by the Orangevale Fair Oaks Foodbank.

Once guests have eaten Community Health Workers, (formerly known as Housing Navigators)

sit with guests and offer each of them a chance to check in and learn

about additional referrals & resources that may

have become available.

Community Health Works

provides three workers

per outreach activity

and is committed to supporting the OVFO Community.

Freshen Up Weekly Showers

The Freshen Up Shower is available on Thursdays from 12:30-2:30 pm. The shower is located in the parking lot at Pathway Fellowship at 8999 Greenback Lane in Orangevale.  We provide a nice warm 10-15 minute shower & clean clothing plus any supplies on hand such as:  toiletries, first aid supplies, hats & gloves, sleeping bags, hand warmers, rain ponchos and tarps.  The Freshen Up Shower Outreach is a collaborative effort between

Pathway Fellowship, who provides us with free shower trailer storage, electricity, and water; the Orangevale Women's Club who provides all shower supplies; and the Orangevale Fair Oaks Foodbank who provides food.

Community Health Works Workers visit with guests at the lunch table. They offer each guest a chance to check in and learn about additional referrals & resources that may have become available.

Sandwich Squad

The Sandwich Squad is a group of dedicated volunteers who hit the streets of Orangevale and Fair Oaks distributing Sack Lunches to our unhoused neighbors. The Sack Lunch serves two purposes, first they are a hearty delicious lunch. Lunches  include a sandwich, fruit, chips, protein bar/cookie & water. Next, the paper lunch bags serve as a bulletin board for important information we need to convey to unhoused neighbors. Information includes items such as: our  Community Health Worker's weekly locations/schedules, HART outreach activities, nearby Church community meal times and days, and Food Bank hours. Food supplies are provided by the  Orangevale Fair Oaks Foodbank and generous donations from our community. The Sandwich Squad is alternating between Fair Oaks Park, Pecan Park & Almond Park. Our goal is to bring unhoused neighbors a meal and the information they need to plan for a  meeting with our Community Health Workers. Please click the link below if you would like volunteer with the Sandwich Squad.
